COVID-19: Precision Recovery Patient

COVID-19: Precision Recovery Patient

Roberto Rapalo, a COVID-19 patient, describes his experience with the remote monitoring app “Precision Recovery” during the course of his illness. The platform was originally developed for stroke patients by Christopher Kellner, MD, and David Putrino, PhD, Co-Directors of Mount Sinai’s Precision Recovery Platform, and repurposed for COVID-19 patients. Physicians are able to monitor the patient’s symptoms daily and adjust care as needed, including sending the patient to the hospital if symptoms worsen. Dr. Kellner notes that each patient’s path with the virus is different; many patients start to feel better and suddenly take a turn for the worse. Mr. Rapalo notes that it was hard to think clearly and make a proper decision about whether to go to the hospital, and that the support through the app gave him confidence that staying home was the right decision.
