COVID-19: IBD Update From the Front Lines

James F. Marion, MD, and Ryan Ungaro, MD, discuss whether patients with IBD who contract COVID-19 are at risk for worse outcomes. Their findings are informed by a new international database of IBD patients who have COVID-19, “SECURE-IBD.” Dr. Ungaro reports that patients who have untreated IBD and active inflammation and patients who are on steroids seem to have worse outcomes, Drs. Marion and Ungaro encourage physicians who have IBD patients with COVID-19 to register their patients with SECURE-IBD at www.covidibd.org.
