Speech and Language Analysis for COVID-19
Cheryl Corcoran, MD, is the Director of Mount Sinai’s Psychosis Risk Program and an internationally renowned expert in using artificial intelligence to analyze speech patterns. In this virtual lecture, she shows via a case study featuring Boris Johnson how speech contains important information about physiology, in particular breathing patterns and coughing, that can be helpful when studying onset of and recovery from COVID-19. Because post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop from the anxiety caused by COVID-19, Dr. Corcoran also covers linguistic features of PTSD and markers of resilience via pilot data from World Trade Center first responders.
