René Kahn, MD, PhD: Tackling the Neurobiology of Schizophrenia

Dr. Kahn is an internationally renowned expert on schizophrenia. One of his most important contributions was providing scientific evidence that schizophrenia debuts with cognitive dysfunction, preceding the onset of the first psychosis by more than a decade. He and his group have also shown that brain changes in schizophrenia are progressive over time. These changes are clinically relevant, as they are related to outcome and loss of cognitive function during the course of the illness.
