title

The Lancet Women and Cardiovascular Disease Commission, an all-female-led Commission, will hold a free, half-day symposium on Friday, February 17, at the InterContinental Barclay in New York City. Leading experts in cardiovascular care and research will be the featured speakers. The event will be held in conjunction with Women as One, as part of their flagship RISE conference on February 18. The conference is being held to support the professional growth of women in medicine.

The program director for the two-day event is Roxana Mehran, MD, Professor of Medicine of Cardiology, and Population Health Science and Policy, and Director of the Women’s Heart and Vascular Center at Mount Sinai and of Interventional Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Trials at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Day #1: The Lancet Commission Educational Symposium: Women and Cardiovascular Disease: Why Should it Matter More?

During this one-day symposium, healthcare clinicians will explore strategies to tackle inequities in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heart disease in women; to advance innovative solutions for early detection and targeted management; to unravel the underlying biological mechanisms that contribute to sex-specific differences in outcomes, and to finally decrease the global CVD burden in women.

Led by world-renowned experts, this symposium will inform about sex- and gender-based disparities in the treatment and diagnosis of CVD in women, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable populations and how to address these in daily clinical practice.

Day #2: 2023 RISE Conference

RISE was developed to provide women across medical specialties with an opportunity to grow professionally: gaining access to trainings, insights and opportunities for their future success.

At the full-day RISE conference, you can:
