When he became the first chair of what is now known as the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Mount Sinai, Robert Butler, MD, having previously founded and chaired the National Institute on Aging, quickly established a highly successful culture of research, and that culture continues to flourish.
