A team of scientists led by Bo Chen, PhD, Director of the Ocular Stem Cell Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, restored vision in congenitally blind mice by activating and reprogramming retinal stem cells. This breakthrough process, described in the August 15, 2018 issue of Nature, could unveil a promising and long-awaited new pathway for treating degenerative retinal disease in humans.
