Alexis C. Colvin, MD, Chief Medical Officer for the US Open, discusses the safety procedures, planning, and protocols in use during the pandemic.
Hi, I'm Dr Alexis Colvin, chief medical officer with the US Open. I'm also the team physician for the U. S Fed Cup team. It's hard to believe. Just six months ago, I was with the Fed Cup team in Everett, Washington, right after the first two cases of CO vid were diagnosed in the U. S. On then Thio actually have put my orthopedic practice on hold work on the front lines with the Koven in patients. And then now to this, uh, the start of the U. S. Open. Um, never thought we would be here. But it's also taken a number of months of intense planning with an emphasis on safety for not only the players, but also the staff that have been here for the beer for the four weeks. Um, there's layers of testing of sanitizing protocols and above all, education in terms of how Thio best, um, practice distancing and masking all things that we are adjusting to in New York as the new normal. So I'm so excited to be here since my 12th year working as a physician here and follow us throughout the tournament on social media. Thanks
