Hazem Shoirah, MD
Hazem Shoirah, MD, is the Director of Thrombectomy Services at Mount Sinai Queens and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After earning his medical degree at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Dr. Shoirah completed an internship in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then finished a medical residency in neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Shoirah has extensive practice in neurological medicine, reflecting his comprehensive experience both as vascular neurology fellow at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center and as an endovascular neurosurgery fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Shoirah is part of a world-class medical team at the Cerebrovascular Stroke Center at Mount Sinai Queens, which provides the fastest and most efficient treatment for people experiencing even the most devastating forms of stroke. Using cutting-edge techniques and technology in this state-of-the-art facility, he performs thrombectomy procedures that remove blood clots to quickly restore blood flow to the brain. Dr. Shoirah conducts vital research into emerging stroke therapies, while also working to expand telestroke networks and medical education.
