NYEE-Mount Sinai Eye Stroke Protocol Saves a Young Woman’s Sight
The Department of Ophthalmology at NYEE has partnered with Mount Sinai Health System’s nationally recognized Department of Neurosurgery, on an “Eye Attack Protocol” for treating acute stroke of the eye. Patients treated with intra-arterial tPA, administered to the ophthalmic artery inside the eye, within the 12-hour window of safety and efficacy, are showing impressive results especially in cases where patients were identified and treated early.
